Julianne Moore has revealed how movie bosses once turned her down for a role because she wasn't pretty enough. The flame-haired actress - who recently made People's magazine's most beautiful people list - lost out on the role to a model because casting agents didn't appreciate her looks. She revealed to America's Ladies' Home Journal magazine: 'I was told I wasn't pretty enough. I remember reading for a part and my agent saying, 'They want you for a callback and you need to look as pretty as you possibly can.' And I said, 'I'm not trying to look bad!' 'When they cast a model for it, I was told, 'Well, they wanted a really pretty girl.'' However, Julianne was not deterred by the setback and went on to star in a string of hit movies, including
Hannibal,
Boogie Nights and
The Hours, for which she received a prestigious Oscar nomination.
